SALONVILLAGE rents studio spaces to beauty professionals who want to run their own salon businesses under one roof. The building opened in 2014 and sits in the Russian Hill and Nob Hill neighborhood, four blocks south of Union Street between Polk and Larkin Streets. The business describes itself as one of San Francisco's leading beauty destinations, known for its design and management.
Studios come in single, double, and triple configurations. Double studios may be shared by two professionals, and triple studios by three or more. Hair studios include a styling chair, a shampoo bowl, and a shampoo chair, while esthetician studios include pedestal sinks. Each studio has a floor-to-ceiling glass door entrance, its own mini-split climate control, and plenty of electrical outlets. Lighting levels are adjustable, and most studios have 12-foot ceilings. Cable and phone line jacks are available for individual service with Comcast.
The building is open Monday through Sunday, 8:00am to 9:00pm. Clients can reach the studios after hours through a color video intercom and an automated front entry release. A shared lobby with seating areas serves clients, and tenants have a private break room and on-site commercial laundry. Complimentary WiFi is available for tenants and clients, and utilities including electricity, gas, water, and WiFi are included in the rent. The building has video surveillance and is professionally managed.
Drivers have several options: nearby parking garages, metered spaces along the street, and one garage on Jackson Street between Polk and Van Ness. Transit riders can take the Powell-Mason or Powell-Hyde cable car lines, or MUNI buses 10, 12, 19, 47 and 49.
Studio applicants complete an online application that includes verification of credit, income, and references. Applications also ask for a professional license number and the applicant's school of graduation.
The business says its studios are designed for professionals who want to invest in their own business as salon owners, giving them control over their workplace decisions and a more personalized atmosphere for clients.
Studios have high ceilings, adjustable lighting, and plank flooring, with a shared lobby for clients.
