SalonTrose has been operating since 2014 and recently moved to a second-floor, loft-style building on Westheimer Road. The salon describes itself as LGBTQIA+-affirming and says its space is gender-neutral friendly and LGBTQ+ safe. Its stated mission is to lead with integrity, create with intention, and build a space where people can grow, thrive and belong.

The salon sits on the second floor, reached only by stairs; there is no elevator or stair lift, and team members cannot carry guests or operate mobility devices on the stairs, so guests with mobility concerns are asked to contact the salon before booking. The entrance is on the corner of Driscoll and Westheimer Road. Parking is available behind the building, across Driscoll Street and on the street. The space has natural light, greenery and a coffee bar with drinks and snacks.

Hours are Tuesday and Wednesday 10am to 7pm, Thursday and Friday 9am to 7pm, and Saturday 9am to 4pm, with Mondays by appointment only. Appointments are time specific, and arriving more than 15 minutes late may lead to rescheduling. New color clients complete a consultation form before booking, and a credit card is required for any appointment. New clients pay a 30% deposit, and the front desk or a stylist gives a price estimate before color appointments. Color is priced by the amount of product used, measured with Vish color-measuring software; the Vish fee varies by service and is around 15 to 20% of the color service. Clients who cancel or reschedule with at least 30 hours' notice avoid fees, while later cancellations incur a 50% charge, same-day cancellations and no-shows are charged 95% of the service, and rescheduled appointments carry a 50% fee. Color and cut adjustments are free within two weeks of the original appointment, but refunds are not given. Not every service is on the online booking page, so clients are encouraged to call or text with questions.

Vivid and color transformation work requires a consultation form, a valid credit card and a 50% deposit, which is non-refundable if cancelled or rescheduled within 48 hours; the form must be completed within 48 hours of booking or the appointment is cancelled. Hair extensions begin with a complimentary consultation, and custom colored extensions are blended and installed to each client's needs, with hair and service quoted at that consultation. The salon says its stylists hold certifications from KAO Academy NYC and Bellami Hair Extensions, and describes its stylists as award-winning and as bringing hundreds of hours of advanced education, with extension specialists citing many hours of continuing education; these are the salon's own claims.
