Salon Red has been operating in Atlanta since a small leased house in Candler Park was started around 1999. The salon marked its 15th anniversary in 2014 and, according to its history page, was selected as one of the 2014 Salon Today Top 200 Salons. It opened as an Aveda Concept Salon and later switched to Bumble and bumble products, ending that affiliation. The salon describes itself as Atlanta's premier destination for hair and says it is committed to inclusivity.

The Brookhaven location, at 804 Town Blvd, Suite 1045, Atlanta, GA 30319, sits in Town Brookhaven, one of the city's newer neighborhoods, beside boutique retailers and Massage Heights. The Candler Park location, at 1642 Dekalb Ave, Atlanta, GA 30307, is a bright, loft-style space. Guests can book services with different stylists on the same visit, and virtual consultations are available on request.

Every service includes a shampoo and blow-dry. An additional product charge may apply based on hair length and density, and those charges are set during consultation.

Salon waste goes to Green Circle Salons, which recycles hair, foils, color tubes, plastics, papers and chemicals instead of sending them to landfill or water systems. Green Circle reports that it recycles, recovers or repurposes up to 95% of its salon waste, and a combined 1,615 pounds recycled across its 2024 and 2025 waste certificates. According to the salon's site, Green Circle is certified as a Zero Waste to Landfill organization by Carbon Trust.

Stylist pricing and levels reflect each person's experience and advanced education, with Levels 5 to 7 reserved for stylists with exceptional skill who keep learning. The salon describes itself as an ever-changing business that grows and promotes from within, and says it keeps its quality up through training.
