Salon Prive

Salon Prive describes itself as a boutique salon for hair and skin. It is in downtown Woodland, in a courtyard behind Steve's Pizza and The Cookie Company. Elizabeth Kalfsbeek and Ryan Gordon are the owners: Elizabeth handles skin services and Ryan handles hair appointments.

Facials are the salon's most popular treatment, usually booked about every four weeks depending on the client's needs, and they come in a 30-minute mini version or a longer 60-minute version. Chemical peels are offered at light, moderate or deep strengths, and deep peels are performed by or under a physician. Exfoliation can be done by scrubbing, brushing, microdermabrasion, a chemical peel or an enzymatic product. Extraction deep cleans pores by hand or with a metal tool. Microdermabrasion uses a diamond-tipped wand with suction and runs 30 minutes to an hour. Waxing uses a soy-based alternative or sugar paste depending on the area, and traditional hard wax is used only for nose hair.

Appointments are made by phone or email, and the salon is open Monday through Saturday by appointment, with Sunday visits possible on request. A consultation is recommended before a first treatment, especially for newer clients. Cancellations need 24 hours' notice; a late cancellation or a no-show is charged the full appointment, and late arrivals may have their session shortened while still paying for the full session. Gift certificates can be bought for a specific service or a set amount and are picked up, mailed, or delivered free within Woodland. The salon is a member of Associated Skin Care Professionals, and its esthetician is certified in Oncology Esthetics. The salon also welcomes clients with health-challenged skin.

Treatments are chosen around each client's needs, with a consultation recommended before the first visit and professional home care products suggested between appointments.
