A visit usually begins with a consultation of about 10 to 15 minutes, covering past hair issues, likes and dislikes, and goals. Clients are welcome to bring photos of the looks they want. Custom colors are created for each client and tracked at every visit so they can be matched later. The salon does not double book, so each client has the stylist's full attention, and reminders are sent by text or email 72 and 24 hours before an appointment.

Before a client leaves, stylists review maintenance timing and at-home care and recommend a follow-up appointment. Shampoo, conditioner and styling product suggestions are offered after service. Haircut prices include a shampoo, conditioning, a massage and a blow-dry. Clients don't need to wash their hair beforehand, since the salon shampoos before every cut, and they may shampoo after a color service using a color-care shampoo.

Cancellations or changes need at least 48 hours' notice, or 72 hours in November and December; later changes carry a 50% rebooking fee, and no-shows and same-day cancellations carry a full rebooking fee. Refunds are not offered for services, though retail purchases can be exchanged for full credit within 30 days. Two-hour metered parking is available in front of the salon and on Larkin Street, and the garage at 1725 Sacramento Street is open every day, while the garage at 1965 Polk Street is closed on Saturdays.

Stylists begin by listening to what clients want and reviewing past hair issues, then track custom color and recommend a follow-up schedule after each visit.

The studio suites are designed to feel calm and relaxing.
