Salon de Nouveau has been operating in Tucson since 1994 and sits east of Campbell Avenue on the south side of Fort Lowell. The salon describes itself as the premier Tucson hair salon and day spa, and as a premier men's salon in Tucson. Owner Tracy Wilkinson works with the salon manager on service quality, continued education and team culture.

According to the salon, Salon de Nouveau was named one of the Top 200 Salons in the U.S. in 2020 by Salon Today magazine. It also received the local Copper Cactus Award for community service and was a finalist for the Better Business Bureau's Good Neighbor Award. The salon belongs to Green Circle Salons and says it supports dozens of local agencies and charities each year, including Arizona Public Media, Child Help and YWCA-My Sister's Closet.

The salon is open Tuesday through Friday from 9am to 8pm and Saturday from 9am to 5pm, and is closed Sunday and Monday. It operates an open chair setting, so guests may move among team members, and it does not double-book. Every haircut starts with a consultation and includes a shampoo, scalp massage and light conditioning, and every hair service ends with a blow dry. A 15-minute detail appointment between services is offered at no charge, and men's haircuts include a complimentary neck trim between visits. A 3% environmental disposal fee is added to each visit, and service prices vary by provider based on experience and expertise. Guests are asked to book their next service before leaving. Children are welcome only when they are receiving services. Changes or cancellations made more than 24 hours ahead are free; later changes and no-shows are charged a 50% fee to the card on file. Skin treatments use Skin Script Rx products, which are paraben-free, fruit-based and suited to all skin types. Skin Script is female owned and based in Chandler, Arizona, and its approach is described as progressive rather than aggressive, with attention to skin safety. Facials are customized after a skin analysis, and options include the Express, Signature, Acne, Hydration, Anti-Aging, Back and Dermaplane Deluxe facials. Waxing is available across the face and body, and clients using Retin-A, Accutane or similar products cannot be waxed; waxing works best when hair has grown for at least two to three weeks.

Color is a stated specialty, and the team says it trains frequently in current looks and products. A complimentary consultation is recommended for balayage and custom color, while corrective color, bleach and tone, and vivid colors are priced per consultation. Perms require a consultation first, and a Brazilian Blowout consultation is also recommended. Gift cards are sold online and in the salon, and the salon rewards guest referrals. Product returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase as store credit.

Each guest's individual beauty needs come first, and the salon does not double-book. Color, perms and smoothing treatments begin with a consultation so the service fits the hair.
