About

Craft Collective was founded in 2022 by Erin Powers, who also works as the owner and cutting specialist. The salon was set up to offer a more inclusive space for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ clients, and a supportive place where hairdressers can grow and express themselves creatively. It describes itself as LGBTQ+ friendly across the whole team and says it enforces a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination.

The team is made up of salon employees and independent renters. Renters run their own businesses inside the salon and may set their own policies, prices, cancellation fees and gratuity practices, so clients should check with the individual stylist. The salon says the team is committed to continuing education.

Services fall into three groups: haircuts, hair color and extensions. Cutting and styling start at $60, with the final price depending on the stylist's experience and how complex the service is. Color is priced by the amount of product mixed, which is calculated with the SalonScale app. Color root touch-ups start at $20, balayage starts at $75, and complete color corrections start at $200. Stylists set their own hourly rates, so total cost varies by stylist, session length and product used. Gratuity is included in service prices.

Appointments and inquiries are handled through the online booking system and by email, as the salon does not have a phone line. Cancellations or reschedules need at least 48 hours' notice, or a 50% cancellation fee applies. No-shows are charged 50% of the scheduled service. Children, friends and partners are not permitted at appointments, and any child must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Clients who cannot use stairs can ask for accommodations in advance. The building has a shared parking lot with a restaurant, bar and tattoo shop, and street parking is the fallback when the lot is full. The salon says it offers no gendered pricing.

Built around inclusion and creative self-expression, with a team that supports stylists in growing their craft. Stylists work either as salon employees or as independent renters who run their own businesses inside the space.

The salon describes itself as a small, upscale space meant to be a sanctuary for self-expression.
