The studio has been in its private home location for 13 years and has offered only hand-tied extensions since the move. It occupies the whole top floor of the Victorian house. Clients also travel in from Folsom, Roseville, El Dorado Hills, Vacaville, Fairfield and nearby areas.
Booking starts with a text. Clients send current photos of all their hair from several angles, along with goal photos and a clean part-line photo, and complete a new client form. Consultations are also done by text, where an estimate is given first and the exact quote follows at the in-person appointment. Estimates cover the hair, installation, blending, styling and care instructions, and the price shifts if wefts are added or removed. Root smudge to tone the tops of the extensions is included when needed.
Installations take roughly 2.5 to 5 hours depending on the number of rows: about 2 to 3 hours for one row, 3 hours for one and a half rows, 3 to 4 hours for two rows and 4 hours for two and a half. The room is quiet and private, with one client at a time, soft music, crystals, plants and Tiffany-style lamps. Hot tea, bottled water, healthy snacks and a drink of the client's choice are offered. The studio has cats, and clients with allergies or who prefer none in the room can ask for them to be kept away.
Halos are removable HaloCouture pieces without clips that can be put on in about 30 seconds, and they can be worn alone, with sewn-in extensions, or under a row of them. Ordering a halo takes two appointments: a 30 to 45 minute sample try-on and order, then a 45 minute pickup of the customized piece after it ships. The studio also sells a clip-on topper, clip-on bangs and a clip-on ponytail. It does not offer color, haircuts or shampoo; it installs, moves up and removes extensions and sells halos and hair care, and it can suggest colorists when needed.
Visits are by appointment only, with no walk-ins, guests or pets. Clients should arrive on time rather than early because there is no waiting area; they can wait in their car or at Temple Coffee at 22nd and K Street and text when they arrive. Hair should arrive freshly washed and completely dry, since the studio does not wash or dry hair on site. Cancellations and reschedules need at least 24 hours notice. A non-refundable $250 retainer holds the installation date and goes toward the balance, and extension services and halos are non-refundable. Hours are 11am to 7pm.
