About

Rock Paper Scissors Buford began as a small studio and has grown into a team, while keeping its setup as a private suite with one stylist per chair. Owner Christine McMillan leads the business, and the salon is known for working with curls and waves of every pattern and texture.

Visits are by appointment only and one-on-one, so guests are not sharing a busy salon floor. Each visit opens with a consultation, and the stylist explains the work while drying and styling so guests can recreate the look at home. Afterward, guests receive notes with product recommendations, care instructions, and suggestions for what to book next. Before arriving, guests can pick an essential oil blend, music, or a seasonal sips and snacks item at no added cost, and a text the day before includes a short video showing how to park and find the suite.

Scalp Garden, located inside the salon, offers scalp care and hair loss solutions. Shampoo includes a complimentary scalp massage, and aromatherapy is available on request. The salon describes itself as anti-racist, queer-affirming, and disability-inclusive, and says it welcomes clients of every race, identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, ability, body type, and background. Pricing is based on the service and not on gender, age, or identity.

According to the salon, about 95% of its waste is recovered and repurposed, including hair clippings. It also has an ongoing partnership with the North Gwinnett Co-Op food bank, and a portion of every sale goes to its pantry.

Appointments can be booked up to eight weeks in advance through the online portal, and a VIP Guest Waitlist notifies clients when an opening matches their availability. Cancellations and changes need at least 24 hours' notice; later changes go by email or text to (855)640-1648, and fees may apply. Arriving more than 15 minutes late without notice counts as a no-show, and missing the cancellation deadline carries a rebooking fee of 50% of the booked session. Prices are shown before service and may change when a service uses above-average product or time.

Takes a holistic view of hair health, caring for the hair from scalp to ends. The salon says it uses cruelty-free products and aims to reduce client exposure to harmful chemicals.

A quiet single-chair suite with treetop views, free Wi-Fi, and phone chargers.
