pHundamental Salon was started on the idea that hair care could be approached more deeply and honestly. Founder Michelle Borland spent a full career as a stylist before training as a trichologist, and the salon combines everyday hair services with a scalp-centered approach.

Visits begin with a consultation. Final pricing is set at that appointment based on each client's hair needs, and the length of a recovery program, three, six or twelve months, is set by what the consultation finds. Each program includes in-salon treatments and monthly scans, with products prescribed from the findings and included in every program. Payment can be made in full at enrollment for a 10% discount, paid monthly, or set up as a deposit with monthly installments.

The pH Club membership pairs each monthly visit with a full-body Bio Scan and a scalp scope analysis, offered for general wellness and education rather than as diagnostic testing. A trichology assessment is a diagnostic session rather than a treatment. It covers a history review, scalp and follicle analysis, a bio-scan, written findings and a recommended protocol, with referral to a physician where warranted. Clients complete an intake form before the appointment, and a $95 deposit secures the booking and is applied to the consultation. The assessment does not require enrolling in a program and is open to men as well as anyone with hair or scalp concerns.

Scalp and hair treatments are performed using the Vital Strandz protocol, which the salon describes as its exclusive recovery line. The salon says its products and practices are eco-friendly, cruelty-free and sustainably sourced, and that clients are often referred to its trichology service after other approaches have not worked. Recommended products such as FORMULA 18, OWAY Haircare and the REVIAN Red Hair Growth System are sold through retailers rather than by the salon.
