Muse Salon was opened in 2011 by its owner, Micah Lipscomb, who started her career in 2005. The salon describes its own client experience as five star. It says it has been listed in Elle Magazine's Top 100 Salons and was named Best Salon in Vestavia Hills by Vestavia Hills Magazine in 2021 through 2025, and it was a finalist for Best of Birmingham Magazine.

The salon says its goal is to enhance each client's own beauty through color, cut and style, makeup and brow shaping. Stylists aim for looks that suit a client's personal style rather than only current trends, and they are expected to keep up with industry changes. The salon says it works to treat everyone with honesty, sincerity and respect, and it describes its approach to staff as helping people grow through training and tools.

The interior mixes chic and modern touches, with wall color and lighting chosen so stylists can work comfortably and clients look natural. The space is designed so clients can relax. Children are welcome, though pets are not allowed in the salon.

Color services range from root touch-ups and all-over color to foiling, balayage and foilyage, with color correction set up through a consultation. Texture services include Brazilian Blowout treatments and Keratin Complex options, and a range of concentrate and pre-color treatments can be added. Bookings require a credit card guarantee, cancellations must be made by close of business the day before, and same-day cancellations and no-shows are charged 50% of the services booked. Product exchanges toward a new product are accepted within 14 days of purchase, and redo appointments are accepted within two weeks of the original visit.
