The company has a history of education for its team. It says it started the first stylist education program in Cincinnati, combining theory with hands-on work, and it has brought internationally known stylists and educators to the city to train staff since 1987. It also created a signature haircut called The Mitch in 1991.
Hair services cover cutting, color, perms, relaxers, keratin smoothing, extensions and styling. Color options include foil highlighting, balayage, ombre, spotlights, vivid and semi-permanent color, and permanent color, with a range of stylist levels from designer up to senior artistic director. Prices vary by stylist level, and extensions and custom work are quoted after a consultation.
Nail and skin services are part of the same visit. Clients can choose gel, acrylic, structure gel and Forever French manicures, along with collagen-infused and hot stone options and several pedicure styles. The day spa offers facials, massage, body treatments, waxing and threading, microblading and brow shaping. Spa packages combine massage, nail, facial and hair services into one booking, and gift cards are sold for these services.
Mitchell's says its designers train in current techniques to create flattering, contemporary looks, and it describes its estheticians and massage therapists as among the best in the city. It also says it has over 114,000 five-star reviews and that 98% of its customers will return; these are the salon's own claims. The Kenwood and West Chester locations include a Medimorph Injectibles Suite, and Kenwood added the first Relaxation Room at the business when it reopened in 2009.
Stylists are trained in a structured technique and encouraged to keep learning, with room left for each one to develop a personal style.
Each location has a spa setting with lounges, dining or group spaces and locker rooms at larger sites, and clients are offered complimentary drinks.
