Midwest Curls opened in 2016 and works only with curly hair. The studio is run by owner Molly Foster, who is the only stylist there, so every appointment is with her.

A first visit starts with the New Client Experience, a 2-hour appointment priced at $240 that includes everything. Molly reviews the client's hair history and goals, cuts the hair dry, then resets and rehydrates it, styles it and diffuses it. She coaches the client through each step, so they leave knowing how to wash, style and care for their curls at home.

Returning clients can book curly cuts sized to their hair length and density, from a short express cut to a longer appointment for long or very thick hair. Color and highlight services combine curly cutting with options such as hand-painted curly highlights, balayage, foilayage and traditional foils. Wash-and-style visits and treatments, including a clarifying deep conditioning and a hair facial spa service, are also available.

The studio says it keeps curly equipment at the highest standard and aims to make each visit personal from start to finish. Its stated goal is for clients to feel good about their natural texture and confident looking after it at home.

Molly listens to each client's curly history and goals, then designs a cut, styling routine and product plan for that person, and teaches the home care step by step during the appointment.
