Salon Ultimo has served Woodbury since 1988. It was founded by John Mingo and Rebecca Erickson, who ran the salon for 18 years before moving to Hudson, Wisconsin. Chris and Shannon Schultz bought the salon in 2006, after partnering with the founders for a year and a half. The business is veteran-owned.

The salon describes its mission as offering full services in an organized, professional and welcoming setting for guests and staff. It says it supports mentoring within the team and outside education for its staff. It also says it partners with brands that focus on clean ingredients and responsible practices, and that it has donated over $250,000 to local organizations, benefit events and families in need.

Every hair service includes a shampoo and scalp massage.

Most treatments are booked by appointment, and ongoing standing appointments are available. Clients can book by phone at 651-738-5904; appointment changes and cancellations also go through the phone, and at least 24 hours' notice is needed. Hours are Monday to Thursday 8am to 9pm, Friday 8am to 6pm, Saturday 8am to 3pm, and closed Sunday. Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express are accepted, and gift cards are sold.

The salon works with brands that focus on clean ingredients, responsible practices and giving back, and it invests in training for its team through in-house mentoring and outside education.
