MFK Hair Co

MFK Hair Co was founded by David King, Ashley McReady and Emily Figge after they met in January 2022. The founders wanted to make the salon visit simpler, to look after the environment through their choices, and to build a better working environment for hairstylists.

The salon describes itself as a collection of individual artisans and as a hub for creativity, inspiration and community. Stylists set their own schedules and time off, manage their own clients, and may also work at other salons. The salon supplies blow dryers, combs, brushes, clips and color tools, along with all color and backbar at no fee to stylists, while stylists bring their own shears and clippers. Stylists are paid a flat commission and are paid weekly by direct deposit.

Pricing is hourly, and each stylist sets and can raise their own rate, so services, hours and prices vary by stylist. The salon is open Monday through Saturday. Gratuity is not accepted. New guests booking appointments longer than 1 hour 15 minutes first need a 15-minute consultation on a separate day.

Each guest gets one free late notice and one free no-show before fees apply. Cancelling less than 24 hours ahead is charged at 50% of the ticket, and not showing up without notice is charged at 100%. Stylists may reschedule or edit appointments with notice if the booked time is not enough for the services, and clients with a pattern of late cancellations or no-shows may be dismissed, with extenuating circumstances considered. The salon does not offer refunds, but a guest unhappy with a service may return within 7 days for a correction by the same stylist at no charge. Stylists who want to join can send a resume to the salon.
