Lisa and Jim McNamara opened the first MCN Salon location in 1999. In 2021 the business rebranded and relocated to its present site on Centre Avenue. According to the salon, it is an intimate boutique whose goal is to meet and go beyond what clients expect.

The stylists receive ongoing training in the United States and Europe. The team works across cutting, color, treatments and hair relaxing and strengthening, and the color menu runs from one-step color and highlighting through balayage, ombre and bleaching. Curl enhancing treatments, basic and creative wraps, Brazilian Blowout and Lasio are also offered, along with tape-in hair extensions.

Appointments are booked in advance with a credit card on file, either online or by calling the salon. Prices vary depending on which stylist or provider is seen. Bleaching, Creative Wrap and tape-in extensions are priced after a consultation, and the $15 consultation fee is applied to the service total when booking. Haircut cancellations within 24 hours carry a non-refundable fee starting at $25, and cancellations, changes and no-shows need at least 24 hours notice.

The salon is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, Thursday from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, and is closed Sunday and Monday. Tipping is up to the client and is accepted by cash, Venmo or check only. Children 5 and older are charged adult pricing and booked as stylists are available, and children's haircuts must be arranged by phone. Retail items are final sale and can only be exchanged.
