Mantra Salon was founded in Jacksonville Beach in 2009 by Ginger and David Laurie. It began as a second-floor salon above a coffee shop on 3rd Street, with Ginger as the only stylist, and now operates from a 14-chair location.

About

The salon's philosophy is that beauty starts from within. It describes a pay-it-forward approach in which the owners look after the team, the team looks after clients, and clients are looked after in turn. According to the salon, it invests tens of thousands of dollars a year in stylist education and aims to have the most educated and talented stylists in the city. It calls itself Jacksonville's premiere extension salon and a concept salon.

Clients can book complimentary consultations with stylists, and the front desk can help choose services. Color corrections and extensions cannot be booked online and require a prior consultation. Extensions follow a set order: consultation, then a price estimate, then a 50 percent deposit before the stylist orders hair and books the installation. The method varies by client based on the look wanted, maintenance and hair type. Guests with thicker than average hair should add extra time under add-on services when booking online. Prices are subject to change and may vary with the specific requirements of a service.

The salon works on a pay-it-forward model, with owners caring for staff and staff caring for clients, and it puts a strong emphasis on ongoing stylist education.
