lingerSF was opened in 2025 by co-owners Gina and Jen. Rather than employing a single team, the salon hosts independent stylists who each run their own business from the space, so each stylist sets up their own bookings and client relationships.

The salon says it wants a culture of kindness, professionalism and collaboration, not high-pressure selling or competition. It also supports stylists in building careers that leave room for life outside the salon.

Clients book with their chosen stylist through that stylist's own booking site. Before the first appointment, clients send their stylist a current photo of their hair, an inspiration photo, and a short history of color or chemical services from the past two years, so the stylist can plan the visit. Snacks and drinks are offered during appointments, and the salon handles laundry and regular cleaning.

The salon keeps a shared color bar stocked with Wella and R+Co, and Mr. Smith is used on the back bar. Clients may also bring their own preferred color line. Throughout the year the salon hosts color education, product knowledge classes and hands-on learning sessions, plus other classes and community events.
