LASH CORRAL

Lash Corral is an independently owned lash studio operating from a salon suite at 501 Illinois 21 in Gurnee. The owner, Mayte Olvera, leads the lash work, and the business focuses on lash extensions and related lash services.

The studio's stated goal is comfortable, healthy lash extensions that keep natural lashes in good condition. New clients start with a patch test, an allergy check using about 15 lashes placed on each eye, which takes 30 minutes and costs $20. A full set can be booked 24 hours after the patch test shows no sign of an allergic reaction.

Full sets are offered for new clients, from $250, and for returning clients at $200. A new client full set covers every lash and can use any technique, style, size or curl, and takes 150 minutes or more. A half set covers half the lashes with the same range of options for $150 and 80 minutes. Fills are maintenance on an existing set, so a full set is needed if 40 to 50 percent of natural lashes are gone.

Other services include a lash lift and tint, which curls natural lashes and lasts 6 to 8 weeks for $80 in 60 minutes, and lash removal at $40 for 45 minutes, which uses a gel remover to loosen the adhesive before the eyes are cleaned. Clients can see classic, volume, mega volume and lash lift work in the studio's portfolio. The salon describes its mega volume set as the boldest and fullest option.

Booking is by deposit. Every booking requires a non-refundable 50% deposit, and new clients pay a separate deposit for some services. Cancellations and reschedules are free with at least 24 hours' notice by text, email or online. Shorter notice forfeits the full deposit and requires a new one to rebook.
