Kavita Lala Electrolysis is a permanent hair removal practice run from an office inside the Cedar Hill Medical Center in Wyckoff. It serves Wyckoff and Northern New Jersey, as well as the New York metropolitan area and surrounding communities. The practice describes electrolysis as the only method the FDA permits to be called permanent hair removal, and says it works across a wide range of skin and hair types.
Every client begins with a complimentary consultation, which is personal and confidential. After it, the electrologist designs a treatment plan around the client's hair removal needs. The number and length of treatments depend on hair growth pattern, hair strength, prior treatment and density, and deeper coarse hairs may need extra sessions. Sessions run from about 15 minutes to more than an hour depending on the area. Electrolysis can be performed on most facial and body areas, including the lip, chin, underarms, bikini line, legs and back. Shortwave (thermolysis) is the main modality, and the electrologist chooses among galvanic, thermolysis and blend methods as the case requires.
Services are organized by client need. There are dedicated options for athletes, for coarse, curly or wavy hair including ingrown hairs and raised bumps, and for darker skin tones. For PCOS and hirsutism, the practice advises seeing an endocrinologist for diagnosis and treatment, while electrolysis addresses the unwanted hair. Men can book work on the beard, neckline, ear hair, eyebrows, back, shoulders and chest. Teens are served, with a parent or legal guardian required for clients under 16, and transgender clients can seek permanent removal of facial and body hair.
Safety is a stated priority. The practice follows infection prevention standards from the American Electrology Association, based on CDC, OSHA and APIC recommendations. It uses a dry-heat sterilizer and sterile, disposable needles, and clients are asked to remove makeup before a visit so the follicles are clean. Clients are also advised to avoid caffeine for a few hours before an appointment for a more comfortable session.
Visits are by appointment only, and walk-ins are not accepted. Office hours are Monday 2 PM to 7 PM and Wednesday 9 AM to 2 PM. Cancellations need 48 hours' notice, and missed appointments are charged. Late arrivals are charged from the originally scheduled time, and the appointment may not be extended. Payment is due at the time of treatment, and the practice accepts cash and checks only. Rates are not given over the phone and are available on request.
