KaRu Salon

KaRu Salon operates from Suite 101 at 6101 Balcones Drive in Austin, inside Path Salon. Kari Leon-Guerrero founded it in 2010, and she brought experienced stylists and colorists from across the city onto the team.

The team describes its goal as bringing out each client's natural beauty. The salon lists integrity, excellence, knowledge, passion, caring and team as its values. Kari developed a year-long training program that every apprentice completes.

Color is the salon's main focus. It works with Calura, a vegan hair color free of ammonia. Gallery pages on the website show work in blondes, brunettes, redheads, ombre and balayage, and curly hair. According to the salon, its color work is the best in Austin, a claim the salon makes about itself. Unite hair products chose the salon to join the team at New York Fashion Week in 2012. The salon also reports that Unite named it among the country's five most education-focused salons. The salon says clients describe its services as classy with an edge.

The salon is open Monday from 12pm to 7pm and Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 4pm, and is closed on weekends. Online booking runs through Vagaro. Individual services and prices are not listed on the website. The salon asks for 48 hours' notice for any change to an appointment. For no-shows or cancellations without that notice, it charges 50% of the service total, and emergencies are taken into consideration.
