Kahli Brows

The studio opened in Echo Park in 2018 under owner Kahli Gibson, who moved into cosmetic tattooing after working in the beauty industry and in tattoo shops around 2014. Before settling in Los Angeles, she ran a microblading company in Utah for several years. The studio is licensed as a Body Art Establishment, and the site says it provides the highest quality cosmetic tattooing.

Work is done by appointment only, with a sterile, disposable needle that places pigment beneath the skin. Numbing uses a topical lidocaine-based anesthetic before and during the procedure. Pigment is a blend of powdered pigments, sterile water, rosin, glycerin, witch hazel, isopropyl alcohol and benzyl alcohol. Brows usually need at least two sessions, and touch-ups are booked by email rather than online. Results are not guaranteed because pigment holds differently in each skin type.

Listed first-session prices include nano brows at $800 (about 3.5 hours), powder brows at $700 (about 2.5 hours), lip blush at $800 (about 4 hours), freckles at $400 (about 1.5 hours), beauty marks at $200 for 1 to 5 marks (about 30 minutes), shaded eyeliner at $700 (about 4 hours) and classic eyeliner at $600 (about 3.5 hours). Annual brow refreshes cost $400 to $500 for brows done one to two years earlier, and older work is quoted from photos. Brow lamination is $120 and takes about 45 minutes.

Clients must be at least 18 and bring valid physical ID. Cosmetic tattooing is not performed on anyone who is pregnant or nursing. The booking deposit is non-refundable and comes off the total, and the balance is due on the day, preferably in cash, with a 3% fee on card payments. Rescheduling is free up to 48 hours before the appointment, and later changes or arriving more than 15 minutes late can carry a $75 fee. Gift cards are available on the site, and clients who want travel appointments can join the waitlist by email.

Treatments use sterile, disposable needles and topical numbing, and the studio is upfront that pigment settles differently in each skin type, so outcomes are not guaranteed.
