Jax & Lola Barber & Braiding

Co-owners Jax and Lola built the shop around community, inclusivity and quality service. The aim is to welcome every hair type, texture, identity and style, and gender-affirming haircuts are part of the regular menu.

Both owners went through barber school before opening the business. Jané works alongside them as a barber, and the team handles both cutting and braiding under one roof.

Cut appointments are tailored to each client, and haircuts for children ages 5 to 10 require the child to sit calmly for the full visit with a parent present. Braid appointments run long: a large mid-back box braid takes about four hours and a small mid-back box braid about six and a half. Natural hair should be washed and blow-dried before a jumbo knotless or small bohobox braid, men's cornrows need washed, dry hair (a $10 blow-dry charge applies if it is not dry), and braiding hair is not included in the box braid prices.

The shop is open Tuesday from 10 AM to 4 PM, Wednesday through Friday from 10 AM to 7 PM, and Saturday from 9 AM to 7 PM. Sunday and Monday are by appointment only, and visits outside standard hours may be possible on request, depending on the provider. New clients booking a jumbo knotless braid pay half the price up front, and appointments more than five minutes late are cancelled automatically.
