Color is planned in advance. The salon uses a three-part system called Headmapping that sets the color and the cost before the appointment, and clients can book any stylist for color. Colorists build a custom formula for each client. Color appointments are booked by calling the salon rather than online.

Every salon service includes a stress-relieving scalp massage and make-up touches. Online bookings are prepaid and non-refundable unless the salon cannot provide the service, and new guests pay a deposit that is applied to the cost. The salon calls two days before to confirm, and it asks guests to arrive 15 minutes early. Services carry a two-week guarantee, and guests who are unhappy can return for a complimentary refresher. Hours are 9 am to 8 pm Tuesday through Thursday and 9 am to 5 pm Friday and Saturday, with the salon closed Sundays and Mondays.

Back to You is a service for people who have lost hair because of a medical condition. It includes consultations, styling and care tips for hairpieces, and the first consultation is complimentary. Hairpieces are ordered through the salon, shipped there, and fitted, cut or colored in the salon as needed. Hairpieces prescribed for medical hair loss may be eligible for health insurance reimbursement, and the partner Back to You company can help with the request. The salon says its Back to You stylists are the only certified stylists in South Carolina.

For special occasions, Ivy offers bridal, prom and event styling as well as group services with customized rates. Off-site services are available, and personal consultations for special occasions are free. Guests are asked not to shampoo on the day of the appointment, and an extra $10 applies to styles that need a veil, hat or specialty accessory.

Design and style work begins with a one-on-one consultation to choose a look that suits the client's hair, face, body shape and lifestyle.
