HAIR has been part of the Westport neighborhood since 1975, when the original owners opened the salon. Tana took over ownership in 2014. Tana graduated from Paul Mitchell in 2010 and then joined the salon as salon coordinator. Megan, listed as salon coordinator and manager, joined in 2021.

The salon describes itself as a full-service hair salon with a team of 10 stylists, and as a creative space where style meets community. The goal is a comfortable, welcoming room where guests can simply be themselves, and the space is described as feeling comfortable from the moment you walk in.

Color is the core of the menu. Lived-in color is built with balayage, foilyage, and soft root melts for natural or more vibrant dimension. Brunette work covers all-over color, glosses, balayage, color melts, and gray coverage. Blondes run from sun-kissed tones to platinum and use highlights, balayage, and foilyage. Reds and coppers include coppers, auburns, and soft strawberry shades. Vivids and creative colors bring bright tones and creative placement, and a consultation is suggested before booking them.

Cutting covers blunt bobs, layers, pixies, long trims, shags, bixies, and clipper cuts. Fringe can be soft and wispy, full and blunt, or curtain-style. Gloss is available as a quick express service that adds shine and softens unwanted tones. Treatments focus on moisture, strength, and repair, including deep conditioning. Smoothing treatments reduce frizz and drying time, and the Brazilian Blowout can be customized. Clients are asked to arrive with clean, dry hair free of heavy product buildup.

Booking is by phone at 816.931.3030 or through the website. Changes and cancellations need at least 24 hours notice; later cancellations are charged a 50% service fee, and no-shows a 100% fee. A credit card is kept on file and charged only for missed or cancelled appointments outside policy. There is a 10-minute grace period for late arrivals, who may have their service shortened or rescheduled. Adjustments can be requested within 5 days, and services are not refunded. Children under 12 need an adult with them who is not receiving a service. Each station allows one stylist and one guest, and guests are asked to keep calls to a minimum. Parking is available in the lot across the street and on the street.
