Hair by Alyssa Carlsen is run by owner stylist Alyssa Carlsen out of a salon suite in Algonquin. Each appointment is a one-on-one visit, so the client is the only guest being served during that time.

Every visit starts with a consultation about what the client hopes to achieve with their hair. The salon welcomes both subtle refreshes and bigger changes, and the menu covers color from single-process all-over shades through full and partial foil highlighting, custom foil work that can lighten hair or serve as color correction, and root color with foils for gray coverage and added dimension.

The menu also includes keratin smoothing in a full and an express version, a Malibu clarifying treatment that can be added to any service, deep conditioning, toner for shade adjustment, updos and bridal styling, and men's cuts and color. Bookings are held with a valid credit card on file. Cancellations within 24 hours are charged 50% of the service total, and missed appointments without notice are charged the full total and place the client on a booking freeze.

Hours are Tuesday from 11 AM to 8 PM, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM, and Saturday from 9 AM to 3 PM. The salon is closed Monday, Thursday and Sunday.

Each appointment begins with a consultation about the client's hair goals, and the salon works solo so each client gets full attention.
