Glo On describes itself as an intimate, private space for one-on-one natural hairstyling, and says it is not an average salon. Clients are booked by appointment only, and walk-ins are not accepted. Free parking is available on nearby residential side streets, with paid parking on 51st Street.

About

The salon is owned by Shavon Akhan, who styles clients alongside the team. Her background covers more than 20 years as a natural hairstylist, training under master braider Taliah Waajid, and workshops she has developed on hair and body care techniques.

The menu is organized into braiding, cornrows, crochet, interloc, locs, natural hair styles, extensions, specialty services and discount packages. Prices depend on the type of hair used, the length of any extensions, and the density and length of natural hair. Loc repair starts with a consultation, and wig installs and steam treatments are also offered.

Booking policies matter here. A cancellation fee applies to appointments not cancelled within 24 hours. Fees apply to take-downs and to excessive detangling. Clients are asked to say when booking if existing braids need to be removed, to come without guests, and children are only allowed in the salon while being serviced. Payment by credit card is accepted and Wi-Fi is available.

Every style is carried out with healthy hair results in mind, and the salon works with natural and organic products.
