EnvyMe Hair Studio is a boutique salon in Hyde Park, inside the Deco Arts Building, and its main focus is multicultural hair care, extensions and natural hair. The salon describes itself as known for high-end experience, professional staff and punctual service. The Hyde Park studio is the newest EnvyMe location, and some services are performed at a separate Evanston location that is booked through the booking page.

About

Lalitha Arnold founded the studio, serves as its CEO, and owns and runs it. Guests of every age and background come in. According to the salon, its clientele includes Academy Award and Grammy winners. The salon also reports that its guests have appeared on FOX32 Chicago, the morning show You & Me This Morning, Check Please!, the Micae Brown Report, and Black Bride.

Every appointment starts with a consultation to review hair health and suggest changes. Most services let clients choose between two or more stylists. Steam treatments are offered, and makeup services are available with a choice of two makeup artists. Popcorn, coffee, water, tea and wine are offered during services from opening to closing.

Appointments can be booked by phone, in person or online. Clients enter card details when booking, and payment is taken at the end of the service. Arriving more than 15 minutes late may mean the appointment cannot be accommodated, and braid services carry a $15 fee for late arrival. No-shows without warning are charged the full service, and cancellations made within 24 hours are charged half. Hair must be shampooed and blown out before braid services, or a $15 charge is added. Braiding is not offered on hair shorter than 3 to 4 inches, so clients with very short or fine hair are asked to send a photo in advance. Children are welcome only with an appointment and an adult. Prices do not include gratuities, and the standard tip is 15 to 20 percent of the service total. Accepted payments include cash, major credit cards, Discover, QuickPay and PayPal.

The studio hosts events, workshops and private parties, and it rents its space for classes with chairs and tables available. Parking is free on Harper St., or $8.00 in the garage connected to the building.

The salon says its stylists connect with clients on a personal level and shape looks to each client's individuality and lifestyle. The studio works with a wide range of hair types and textures.
