The salon opened in Philadelphia in 1972, founded by Gary and Maureen Muhlberger. In 1995 it divided into a color department and a styling department, and the two work together on each client's look.
The color team includes 13 colorists, four of them American Board Certified Master Hair Colorists. The salon says it was named one of the top World Class Color Salons in the country and that its work has appeared in trade and fashion magazines. The styling team of 19 stylists works to a philosophy of simple, suitable and stylish design, coordinated with the color department.
Beyond hair, men can book scissor and razor cuts or traditional clipper cuts, with a complimentary shampoo and scalp massage given by trained assistants beforehand. Airbrush tanning is applied by hand by trained technicians, and the esthetics team offers customized facials, full body waxing with a French non-strip wax, brow design and microblading.
Bridal and formal clients can use a private bridal suite on the second floor, which includes a formal hairstyling room, a kitchenette with complimentary refreshments and a restroom. Formal styling does not include shampoo or blow dry, so hair should be ready to set, and booking ahead is recommended to secure a preferred time.
The VIP Program, running since March 2009, gives clients who book a year in advance 10% off all services and products for one year. The referral program gives a $10 gift certificate for any service when a referred friend mentions the client's name.
Hair cutting and styling follows a philosophy of simple, suitable and stylish design coordinated with the color department. Colorists work closely with stylists to achieve the look a client wants.
