The salon was created by Karen James, and its team begins every service with a consultation, since every stylist and aesthetician takes this step before work starts. Inspiration photos are welcome but not required. Guests are asked to share their hair history, including past color, lighteners, chemical treatments and at-home products, because results can vary with that history and are not guaranteed.

Clients are asked to arrive on time and call if they are running late. A missed appointment carries a 50% no-show fee, and if the card on file cannot be charged, that fee must be paid before another visit can be booked. Rude, threatening or intentionally offensive behavior toward staff or guests is not tolerated, and the salon may end a service, charge 50% of the scheduled service and ask the guest to leave.

Guests can park in the main lot, at the curb beside the building, or on the street. Snacks and drinks, coffee included, are provided, and laptops are welcome during appointments. The salon also runs a paid Stylist Residency Program for newly licensed cosmetologists. Lasting roughly four to six months, it pairs participants with one-on-one guidance and regular progress check-ins, and it is aimed at people fresh out of school or with limited experience.
