Five Point Five Skincare was founded by Melissa Dacher, a licensed esthetician who began in makeup artistry before shifting her focus to skin and scalp health. The name refers to pH 5.5, which the practice says is the pH of healthy, balanced skin.
The practice takes a holistic view and treats the whole person rather than only the skin. Each visit begins with an in-person consultation to evaluate skin and scalp concerns and goals, followed by a treatment plan and product recommendations. Facials include a tailored home-care plan, and the practice describes its treatments as science-backed, with an emphasis on education so clients can make informed choices. It recommends monthly facials and series of six or more treatments for the best results, and says relaxation matters but results matter most.
Services cover a wide range. Facials include custom and back facials, several signature facials from 90 to 145 minutes, and Acne and Bridal Bootcamp programs priced by consultation. Hydrafacial options run from Express and Luxe to Platinum and Jet Setter, with body treatments for the back, neck, décolleté and booty. Other offerings include GLO2Facial, DMK Enzyme Therapy, QMS masks, Jet Plasma, Keravive scalp treatments, oncology esthetics, lash enhancements and hard wax waxing for the face and body. Add-ons such as LED therapy, microcurrent and dermaplaning can be combined with facials.
Clients are asked to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to check in and complete intake forms, ideally before the appointment, and to come without makeup or product on the skin. Clients are asked to avoid Botox, fillers and retinol two weeks before treatment, to stop exfoliants, AHAs and BHAs 72 hours before, and to bring a list or photos of current products, supplements and prescriptions. Booking is by text or through the website contact form, with cancellations and reschedules requiring 48 hours' notice. The suite is at the top of the stairs on the corner of Campus Drive and Quail Street, near the 405, 55 and 73 freeways, and the practice has a private lot for guest parking. It is open Sunday through Friday by appointment only.
A holistic approach that treats the whole person, with custom-tailored treatments chosen after analyzing each client's routine and education on their individual skin needs.
A private, appointment-only suite at the top of a staircase, across from an acupuncture clinic.
