Esty Skin Studio was founded in 2008 by Jessica Devon Nelson and has operated for more than ten years as an apothecary-style facial studio. It sits in a historic building at 1006 Waller Street in East Austin, constructed in 1886 for an early local merchant; a National Register of Historic Places inventory notes its unusual duplex form.

The studio says it welcomes clients regardless of color, creed, sexual orientation, gender identity, abilities or profession. Its in-house Petals & Clay line is described by the studio as vegan and water-free, and the studio calls the line luxurious and eco-friendly. Facials use small-batch holistic products made in-house.

A standard facial moves through cleansing and skin analysis, steam, gentle exfoliation, extractions and a mask, with a massage of the scalp, shoulders, neck, hands and arms. Clients also receive guidance on nutrition and lifestyle and a recommended home care routine. The Ultimate Facial adds several masks, ultrasonic exfoliation, product penetration, Joov red light therapy, a face, hand, arm and shoulder massage, and Gua Sha. The studio advises that ultrasonic devices are not recommended for pregnant clients.

Customized chemical peels can be added to any facial or booked on their own. From June through October only lactic peels and the Aroma Peel are offered, unless a client is partway through a peel program, because stronger peels are not offered in summer. Waxing uses Epillyss products and requires a signed consent form. Hair should be between a quarter inch and one inch long, and clients should wait at least 10 days after shaving. Waxing is recommended every three weeks, or every four to six weeks once a series is complete. Bikini, brakini and Brazilian waxing are offered to female clients only.

Restorative Wellness Sessions combine Reiki energy work with tuning forks and are available as single 45-minute sessions or as 5- or 10-session packages. Gift certificates are sold online in digital or physical form and can be used for facials and waxing. Hours are 9am to 5pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and 9am to 8pm on Tuesday and Thursday. Skincare does not need to be aggressive to be effective, so the studio works with the skin rather than against it, using raw, plant-based ingredients compounded during each treatment.
