The studio is in the Ridge Shopping Center, beside Village Dance Studio and Fresh Market. Hours are Tuesday 11am to 7pm, Wednesday through Friday 10am to 6pm, and Saturday 10am to 5pm, with Sundays and Mondays closed.

The menu is organized into color, cut and style, and add-on services. Color options run from all-over base color and retouches through accent and partial or full foil highlights, to partial and full balayage. Every color service includes a shampoo and blow-dry style. Cuts include a barber haircut, a haircut with style, and a wash and style.

Add-ons include a deep conditioner, a toner, and an iron styling finish. Guests who are unsure which service to choose can book a complimentary consultation. Prices are listed as set amounts, but extra time or product may add to the cost depending on hair length and thickness.

Ember uses Davines professional products and only carries lines the owner believes in. Davines is a family-owned company that emphasizes ethical practices and sustainability.

Booking is by text or phone at (804) 651-4514. Online booking is open to existing guests through a Book Now link and requires a credit card. A waitlist is kept for last-minute openings. Cancellations or reschedules need at least 24 hours notice, and a card on file may be charged for a late cancellation or a repeat missed appointment. Guests arriving more than 10 minutes late may need to rebook, and guests are asked to come alone unless the salon is contacted in advance. If a guest is unhappy with a result, a correction is offered free of charge when requested within two weeks; after that, it is a paid service.

The studio aims to help each guest feel comfortable and good about their look, on their own terms, and it chooses products based on the owner's own confidence in them.
