Dr.LocGenie is an all-dreadlock service salon. The Los Angeles location is on South Robertson Boulevard and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 7:30 PM, closed Sunday and Monday. The Sacramento location on J Street operates as The Loc Bar. Danielle owns both, and has handcrafted and installed human hair dreadlock extensions for over seven years.

A consultation is required for questions about services or to confirm that someone is eligible for a particular service. Scheduling and service requests go by email rather than social media or direct messages. Installations are approval-based: a deposit secures the time, and the appointment is only confirmed once an approval email comes through the iBooking system. Deposits become non-refundable after 48 hours but count toward the total.

Other services include full head loc reattachments, loc reconstruction, crochet maintenance and repairs, and retwists. Wash services include a basic two-step deep moisturizing cleanse, with a four-step deep cleanse as the fuller option. Curly Genie installations need at least 4.5 inches of hair, and traditional extensions need hair between 2 and 4 inches; longer hair for traditional extensions can be clipped at no added fee or instant locked for an added fee. Fine or low-density hair is recommended for small Curly Genie locs.

Clients should arrive with clean hair, free of heavy buildup, oils or residue, and arrive on time, since late arrivals may get a shorter service or lose the appointment. Clients must be at least 12 years old. Aftercare is explained at the time of the service rather than during consultations. Pricing is fixed, and when available, payment plans can be arranged at booking through Klarna, Affirm or AfterPay; in person, Buy Now, Pay Later covers bookings from $50 to $4,000. The salon also sells natural dreadlock home care and maintenance products with moisturizing ingredients, and offers a one-week live training course on attaching traditional loc extensions.

Services are planned around each client's hair length, texture and density, with consultations used to confirm that a service suits the hair before booking.
