Work centers on sewn-in extensions, custom wigs, fantasy color and natural hair care, with wig styling named as one of the top specialties. Services are grouped into add-ons, color, consultations, hair services, maintenance, monthly packages, service packages, weaves and extensions, and wig services.

A free 15-minute phone consultation is offered on Mondays, and paid phone or in-person consultations run 30 minutes for $50. Clients traveling to the studio's services away from the studio pay a travel fee of $150 or more, depending on distance, in advance.

Deposits are required at booking to secure an appointment and are non-refundable, though one deposit may move once if an appointment is rescheduled. Cancelling less than 24 hours ahead or not showing up forfeits the deposit, and a charge of 50% of the service price for late cancellation or 100% for a no-show may also apply. A fifteen-minute grace period applies to late arrivals; after that a $20 late fee is added, and appointments are cancelled after 30 minutes. No refunds are given, so clients are asked to be satisfied with their service before leaving.

Space is limited, so extra visitors, children and companions are not allowed during appointments. Clients who supply their own hair for extensions must have it in hand before scheduling, or can order hair through Mystic Mermaid Hair. Only clean, uncut hair is installed, and lace must be good quality and undamaged. Wigs must be dropped off or delivered at least three days before the appointment, or mailed in, and customizing within three days of the appointment carries a $50 fee. The studio will not work over another stylist's installs and will not repair weaves installed by another stylist, except to take them down for a new service. Booking consents to photos or video for promotional use, and the stylist asks before recording.

Each client's look is planned around what they want, with guidance on keeping hair in good shape between visits. The studio keeps up with current color styles and wig techniques.
