Larry and Lisa Walt own the business. Its stated mission centers on expert hair color services and spa treatments. The salon describes itself as one of the best salons in Grand Rapids and says it has been a go-to choice for hair and spa services for more than 40 years; both are the business's own claims.
New clients can complete a matchmaking survey, which suggests a Design 1 provider based on their goals, style and personality. Spa packages bundle several services and can be applied to any service or product the client chooses, or used for the services a package lists. Double packages let two people receive services together. Gift cards can be bought on the website.
Salon and spa services are booked by appointment every day, and calling ahead is recommended. Guests are asked to arrive 15 minutes early, and first-time clients complete a profile before their service. Late arrivals do not get extra time and are charged the full fee. Many treatments require removing jewelry, phones must be muted and not used in the spa, and the business is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Gratuity is not included in prices and is left to the guest, though an 18% gratuity is added automatically for parties of six or more. Changes or cancellations within 24 hours and no-shows are charged the full service, and same-day massage changes are charged 40%. A credit card or qualifying gift card is needed to finalize reservations for services totaling $250 or more, appointments of 2.5 hours or longer, or three or more services on one day. Some services may require a deposit set at consultation, and prices are subject to change. Minors may receive services with a signed waiver from a parent or guardian, who must stay in the treatment room, and childcare is not provided.
