Cristina Rubio Makeup

Cristina Rubio has run her own makeup business since 2015, and it was formerly known as Cristina Ziemer Beauty. Her work centers on bridal makeup, with studio appointments, lessons and set work for campaigns making up the rest of the schedule. Studio appointments and lessons take place at The Populace Collective in Stillwater. Wedding makeup is offered in Minneapolis, St. Paul, Stillwater and nearby areas, with on-location service for wedding days. Each appointment begins with a conversation about what the client likes about their face, what has not felt right in past makeup, and how much makeup they want, and the final look is shaped around the client's features, comfort and taste.

Bridal packages open with a 90-minute trial at the Stillwater studio, booked after the contract is signed and held six to eight weeks ahead of the wedding, with wedding day makeup following. Wedding parties are quoted per person, with looks adjusted to each guest's features and tastes. Optional false lashes can be added to bride and wedding party packages. A group of the bride plus four or more guests gets an additional artist for a fee per artist. Travel is covered within 40 miles one way of Stillwater; trips beyond that radius carry a separate fee.

Commercial and editorial work covers campaigns, product imagery and business content. Commercial work is quoted per project after the client shares details about the shoot, and pricing depends on scope, time on set, the number of people and any look changes. Clients have included national food and consumer brands, a sports league, a healthcare system and an airline, according to the business. Lessons are 90-minute in-studio sessions for people who are not makeup artists. Clients bring their own products and learn application techniques. The business does not offer hair services but can recommend hair artists.
