The Populace Collective

The Populace was founded by Baily Sorenson and Carla Horst around the idea that independent professionals and a local community could share one space in Stillwater. Its address is 123 2nd Street N, Suite 202.

Each professional runs their own business and sets their own services, hours, pricing and client policies. Clients book directly through the booking link on each professional's profile, and cancellations or rescheduling go to that professional the same way. The business describes itself as a collective built on connection rather than competition.

The mix includes hair cutting, color, extensions and styling, makeup for weddings, events and headshots, medical aesthetic treatments and skin services, IV and cellular health services, interior design and fashion styling, and wellness coaching for women. For gatherings, the collective has a private event space, and bridal hair, makeup and pre-event skincare are offered by its professionals. Independent professionals can also rent chairs or private studios, with optional support that includes a website profile with booking link, a digital check-in kiosk, a branded email address, shared digital storage, and a scheduling and payment system.

Independent professionals each manage their own business, with the collective giving each one control over their own hours, pricing, services and client policies.
