Crafted Hair Studio

Crafted Hair Studio opened in Hampden and describes itself as a safe, loving, inspiring and comfortable place for guests. It is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 7pm and on weekends from 9:30am to 5pm, seven days a week except for major holidays or unexpected closures. Parking is available on residential streets and in paid spots.

A curly cut usually starts with dry cutting, followed by a wash and a diffused dry, and typically takes about 90 minutes, or up to two hours for very dense or long hair. Haircut pricing depends on hair length, hair texture and the stylist's level, and is available on request. Straightening, smooth blowouts and silk presses are extra services that take additional time and must be requested at booking. Going from long to short is booked as a transformation cut, or as an extra long cut when hair falls past the shoulders.

Color and perm work begin with a consultation. Color prices are not quoted online or by phone, and perm services start with a free consultation with a specialist, with pricing set after that. Consultations, which are needed for color, perms and special event styling, require a $25 deposit at booking that is deducted from the total if the service goes ahead. Services that go ahead take an up-front deposit for half the requested service, applied to the day-of total. Walk-ins are usually not accommodated, so calling one to two weeks ahead is recommended. The shop has no waiting area, so guests with special requests should call ahead.

The salon supports local small businesses, charities and creators, and offers donations or volunteering. Clients can donate their hair to several organizations. Some stylists cut children's hair from age 5 and up, and gift certificates are available. Music plays in the shop, and the business keeps a Spotify page.

Color, perm and event styling are planned around a consultation, and cuts are shaped to suit each client's lifestyle and hair goals. The salon aims to be a safe and comfortable space and gives back to local businesses and charities.
