Steve David opened Comme des Salons 16 years ago. The studio was set up for clients who want a celebrity stylist's haircut without the bustle of a traditional salon, and it describes itself as private and free of paparazzi.

All haircuts are done on dry hair, and the hair is not washed in the studio. The studio says washing before a cut can lead to premature color loss, weaker styling results, stripped natural oils and stretching that can cause more hair to be cut than intended. Its Dry Cut Concept is modeled on the experience of styling on a film or photo set.

Makeup is bespoke and built around each client's features and preferences. Event makeup for events, headshots and other occasions starts at $150, bridal beauty services are priced by inquiry, and personal makeup lessons start at $250.

The studio describes its services as exclusive and compares them to a custom suit made by a bespoke tailor. Walk-ins are not accepted, and payment is by credit card, debit card or cash. The studio does not offer color or chemical services.

Built on dry cutting, with a styling method modeled on on-set work and the view that washing hair first can affect the result.

The studio calls itself private and free of paparazzi.
