Colsie Salon

Colsie began as a vision board on Pinterest. The owner later opened it as an independent salon after finding few chair rental options that suited the idea, and it now works as a collective of independent stylists who run their own businesses. The name is pronounced kol-zee and comes from an Old Scots word meaning cosy. The salon also invites independent stylists who want the freedom of working for themselves in a social setting to get in touch.

The salon describes itself as a cozy, carefully curated room for people who want good hair without fuss or formality. Its stated values are creativity, care and respect, with an emphasis on thoughtful technique, collaboration and styles that hold up in everyday life. Growth is meant to be gradual, and bookings are kept intentional.

Each stylist publishes their own service list and takes bookings through their own website link, so clients contact the stylist they want directly. The salon is in retail space on the north side of Pilchuck Village Apartments, beneath the residential units. Parking is a back-in strip reached from eastbound 204th Street, and Suite 113 is the unit farthest from the building entrance.

The salon stocks UNITE HAIR PRO, a line of more than 50 products made in the United States. According to the salon, the formulas hold PETA certification for being cruelty-free and are free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, talc and formaldehyde. Per the salon, 76 percent of the range is vegan, though some shampoos, conditioners and styling items include trace amounts of honey, beeswax or keratin.
