Studio 5 Glam Co. was founded in 2003 by Chris Schulberg Heyman and sits on East Gilman Avenue in downtown Arlington. The salon describes itself as an all-inclusive beauty destination and a hidden gem downtown, and says it stands behind the quality of its products and services. Its stated aim is to keep up with trends, raise professional standards and go beyond what guests expect.

The hair menu covers color, highlights and balayage, cuts, relaxers, curl and texture work, and smoothing treatments. Extensions are a large part of the business, with Bellami and Halo Couture lines available and a free consultation before any installation. That first conversation looks at the length and thickness a guest wants, their natural hair, and how much upkeep they are prepared to do.

Skin services include facials and spa treatments that are tailored to each guest's skin needs and goals, along with waxing, sugaring, and lash and brow work. The salon's skin team includes estheticians trained in DMK Skin Revision.

Bridal work includes hair, makeup and party services. Bridal bookings are first-come, first-served and are held only once a signed contract and a 50% deposit are received. Deposits are returned for cancellations made at least two weeks before the date. Prices are starting points and move with hair length, density and the complexity of the style. A trial run is required for the bride and is charged on the day it takes place. Hair should arrive clean and dry with no makeup on the face, and guests who spray tan or use a tanning bed should mention it before the trial. A 20% gratuity is added for the bride and the bridal party, and payment must be made in one transaction at least seven days before the wedding. A wedding party more than 15 minutes late is treated as a no-show. Extra bridal time is billed in 15-minute blocks or by the half hour, and inspiration photos can be sent by email or text.

The salon also runs a retail boutique with hair, skin and beauty products, sells gift cards online and in the salon, and offers online booking through its Customer Portal. The salon has partnered with Green Circle Salons to recycle up to 95% of its salon and spa beauty waste, and says its leadership team is coached through Summit Salon Systems. An Associate Program supports stylists with under two years of experience, and full-time and part-time positions are offered.
