CoCoTeaMUA was founded in 2018 by Teashya, a makeup artist who began formal beauty training at a Sephora store in Dover, Delaware, in 2012 and later worked as a manager at MAC Cosmetics before starting her own business. The studio works from Suite 126 at 66 Painters Mill Road, a short drive from I-795, with free parking in front and rear and a wheelchair-accessible building.

The studio's approach centers on celebrating all shades of beauty and building self-love and confidence. Products are hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic, and all products, tools and brushes are sanitized after each use. The makeup kit relies on multi-purpose, skincare-based products, and service and product names draw on chocolate and sweets.

Bridal work is the main focus. The business says it has served more than 150 weddings in the United States and overseas over the past 13 years, describes its wedding service as award-winning, and reports features in several magazines. Wedding packages come with custom add-ons, and bridal shower glam is also offered. The process starts with a consultation at the suite, with champagne included, followed by a Wedding Glam contract with a security deposit, bridal care tips, and a makeup session that ends with a custom touch-up kit. Services for two or fewer clients take place in the suite; travel is only considered for reservations of three or more adult clients.

Visits are by appointment only, with no walk-ins. Appointments can be requested online up to five weeks ahead and up to 24 hours before the appointment, but confirmation is not guaranteed. A $20 non-refundable deposit is required for makeup services and is credited toward the balance, and a $1 processing fee applies at booking. Payment is by cash or credit or debit card only. Clients who want to learn can book one of three private one-on-one makeup classes online, and the studio runs masterclasses for makeup artists from time to time, announced by email and social media.

Shop Beauty sells lip gloss, lipstick, lip liner, lip scrub, blush and complexion products. Orders can be picked up at the suite on Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m. or on weekdays by request, or shipped by USPS, typically arriving within one to three business days for domestic orders. The Virtual Shopping Assistant service is offered for $40.
