Citrine Skin Spa operates out of two studios inside Sola Salons in New Berlin. Clients enter the building and follow the directions to the studio doors. Studios 22 and 24 each have their own text line for letting the spa know you have arrived, which is optional.

Karen Lillie-Burns opened the spa after years of work in esthetics at several spas in the Milwaukee area. Her training came from the Aveda Institute of Beauty and Wellness and from ongoing Dermalogica study. The spa describes its approach as comprehensive and one-on-one, and treatments are meant to support skin health, wellness and relaxation.

A visit begins with a conversation and a treatment plan chosen on the day, shaped around the client's skin and goals. Facials run about an hour and a half, and every treatment includes a double cleanse, so face makeup does not change the timing. Eye makeup can be removed during the treatment if requested, though clients are asked to arrive makeup-free around the eyes, and waterproof mascara is not recommended for facials. Clients are asked to keep conversation light and silence phones. If the studio door is closed, a service is underway or being prepared, and clients may wait in the hallway. Appointments need 72 hours notice to cancel or reschedule; cancellations made less than 24 hours ahead are charged in full.

Jet Cold Plasma is the main focus of the menu. It is offered on two devices: the original D66, which treats the whole face without numbing cream and is usually booked weekly for up to six sessions, and the newer Jet Ultra Cold T33, which the spa describes as its most advanced downtime-free plasma pen. A series is usually three to eight treatments, with the number set at the first appointment, and the first visit takes about 70 minutes while later sessions take about 45. The spa says results can last several years after a series and that a rest period of six to eight weeks is needed after a full series of six. Booking more than one session includes a free custom express facial at the first visit. Makeup and sunscreen are to be avoided for 12 hours after treatment.

Lash lifts with a black tint, lash tints, and brow tinting and shaping are offered, along with waxing for the face, brows, lip, underarms, arms, legs, bikini and Brazilian areas. Relaxation massages of 60 or 80 minutes are also on the menu.

Each visit is one-on-one and customized: the treatment plan is set on the day to fit the client's skin and goals.
