Centered Spirit

Centered Spirit opened in January 2017, founded by Alex and Emilie Jackson. The founders say it took more than ten years to shape the vision into a center and about two years to find the building on Wornall Road. The center describes its mission as serving the local community as a holistic health resource through listening, education and empowerment.

Services are by appointment only. New clients are asked to fill out the intake form for their treatment online and print it before arriving. Pregnant clients also complete an AIH prenatal form, and clients within five years of giving birth complete an AIH postpartum intake form. Prenatal massage sessions run 60, 75 or 90 minutes, and the center recommends one every four weeks up to 36 weeks, then every two weeks until term.

The skincare menu includes a European facial, a medical deep pore facial, a dermaplane facial, a hydrating facial and a teen facial. Skincare treatments also include lash lifts, microneedling, medical peels and full-body waxing. The center says the facials at Bloom Aesthetics are the longest and most detailed in Kansas City. Infrared sauna sessions run on a Solocarbon mPulse full spectrum unit from Sunlighten and are booked through the website. The center says this is the only medical grade sauna certified in the United States.

Emilie's French Teas is a tea room inside the center, which the center says is the first of its kind in the area. It is open Tuesday to Friday from 10:30am to 5:30pm and Saturday from 11am to 4pm. The attached shop sells teas by the ounce or in tins, along with teaware and accessories. Private tea parties and tea classes can be arranged on request.

Health and wellness classes, workshops and cultural events are held throughout the year, and the center welcomes outside speakers and teachers. Rooms are available to rent, including a therapy room and a Haven classroom. The center also hosts charity events and passes donations on to non-profit health and disaster relief organizations.

Takes a whole-person, integrative approach that draws on Traditional Maya Medicine, AIH, herbalism, medical aesthetics, nutrition, corrective exercise and yoga.
