Brazilian Blowout Boston

Franny Flynn opened Brazilian Blowout Boston in 2016 after going solo in 2014 and gradually moving her work toward smoothing treatments. The studio has focused exclusively on Brazilian Blowout and keratin smoothing since it opened, building on experience that began in 2009. The salon describes itself as Boston's only Brazilian Blowout specialty salon, and states that it has performed more than 10,000 treatments since 2016 and has built a client base in Quincy over more than fifteen years.

A visit starts with a free phone consultation for new clients, where recent bleach or chemical services, henna and significantly compromised hair are discussed before booking. Pricing depends on hair length, density and the smoothing level chosen, and Franny confirms the exact price and appointment length on that call. Every appointment begins with a consultation on hair texture, damage, daily styling habits and goals. A $120 deposit toward the service is required; it is nonrefundable and nontransferable, and it is forfeited if an appointment is moved, cancelled or changed. Arriving more than 15 minutes late means the appointment is rescheduled and the deposit is lost, and no-show appointments are charged the full booked service. Clients should arrive with clean, dry hair and without heavy oils, leave-in conditioner or styling product. The studio does not perform treatments over henna.

The Brazilian Blowout is a coating-based smoothing treatment heat-sealed to the outside of the hair. It is not a permanent straightener or relaxer and does not break the hair's internal bonds. Clients can choose from three result levels: Classic keeps natural body and movement with moderate curl reduction and lasts about 3 months; Lighter has minimal curl reduction, keeps volume and lasts 2 to 3 months; Heavier gives maximum smoothing with a sleeker, flatter finish and lasts 3 to 4 months. Results generally last 10 to 12 weeks, build with repeat treatments, and coarser or curlier hair may need refreshes more often. Some extra flatness in the first two weeks is normal. Hair can be washed the same day, and clients go home with maintenance products and a sulfate-free shampoo recommendation.

The studio is private and fully ventilated, with free parking on site. It is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 9pm by appointment only, with no walk-ins. Clients come from Boston neighborhoods, the South Shore, MetroWest, Cambridge, Somerville and other nearby towns.

Each treatment and its formula are chosen after a consultation that looks at hair texture, damage, styling habits and goals.
