About

Artistic Academy has been training cosmetologists and aesthetics professionals since 1984. It runs out of a 14,655 square foot campus at Route 10E and 301 Gibraltar Drive in Morris Plains, with classrooms and a Student Salon and Spa Clinic. The school's stated mission is to prepare students for careers in the art and science of cosmetology, pairing classroom theory with hands-on practice.

Students follow the New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling curriculum and take advanced classes in hair coloring, haircutting, advanced aesthetics, product knowledge and cosmetic application. The cosmetology program is 1200 clock hours and the aesthetics program is 600 hours. A separate 500-hour Student Teacher course covers educator training in both fields. Students receive a kit of tools and textbooks that is included in the total cost of education and belongs to them, and they are responsible for keeping it in good condition through the program.

The Student Salon and Spa Clinic is a required part of practical training. Students are not employed by the school at the clinic.

The school says it has a 100% license rate, a 95% graduation rate and 40 years of graduating professionals, and that it placed over 89% of its last graduating class, per NACCAS. It also states that job placement is not guaranteed, but it provides free leads to available positions and counsels students on employment before they graduate. Its sister company, Depasquale the Spa, is described by the school as award-winning.
