It was founded with the aim of building an inclusive, luxury-minded salon. The flagship Alter EGO Salon occupies a high-end urban loft on East Hargett Street. Salon Deux, the smaller location on New Bern Avenue, focuses on customized color, precision cuts, extensions and curl-focused services.
Every service starts with a consultation about hair goals, texture, lifestyle and personal style. Color appointments include a one-on-one consultation, a custom color formula, a bond-building treatment during coloring and a professional blowout. Haircuts include a shampoo and conditioning wash with a scalp massage and a blowdry with styling. A matchmaking survey can pair a new client with three stylists based on style, goals and personality. Prices reflect each stylist's experience level, and a small extra charge may apply for very long or thick hair.
Booking follows a few house rules. The salon offers complimentary redo appointments within 14 days of a color transformation.
Appointments can be made online or by texting (984) 213-5031. Alter EGO Salon keeps these hours: Monday 8 AM to 8 PM, Tuesday through Thursday 8 AM to 9 PM, Wednesday 9 AM to 5 PM, Friday 8 AM to 9 PM, and Saturday and Sunday 8 AM to 4 PM. Salon Deux is open Sunday through Wednesday 8 AM to 4 PM and Thursday and Friday 8 AM to 2 PM. Gift cards are available through the website and at the salon.
The salon builds each visit around a consultation and aims for personalized service, diversity, continuous education and collaborative teamwork, with ongoing training to keep pace with trends and techniques.
Alter EGO Salon is set in a bright, airy, modern urban loft with a high-end feel.
