About
Marc Darst, MD, leads Darst Dermatology in Charlotte, North Carolina, a practice that offers general and cosmetic dermatology. He is board certified in dermatology, dermatopathology and family medicine.
He completed a three-year family medicine residency and practiced in rural Indiana and in Indianapolis before selling that practice to focus on dermatology. Dermatology training took place at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, where he was chief resident in his third year, and dermatopathology training at the University of Texas Southwestern at Dallas under Dr. Clay Cockerell. Later he returned to Dayton as an assistant professor of dermatology at Wright State and worked as an associate laboratory director at the Dermatopathology Laboratory of Central States.
Earlier he was the first clinical research fellow in the Department of Dermatology at Indiana University School of Medicine, where he also served as an associate clinical professor, teaching residents and medical students from two hospital training programs. His published research covers platelet activating factor receptor in skin cancer and superantigens in psoriasis, and he developed an animal model of allergic contact dermatitis. He has lectured at the DASIL Annual Congress in Dubai on breast implant-associated lymphoma, complex patient problems and the effect of social media on medicine, and he has been on the invited faculty for the Cosmetic Surgery Forum. He also serves on the board of directors of IDEOM.
A news item reports that he was again named one of Charlotte's top doctors, for six years in a row.
