About
Marc A. Darst, MD, established Darst Dermatology in Charlotte. He is board certified in dermatology, dermatopathology and family medicine. Before specializing in dermatology, he practiced family medicine in rural Indiana and Indianapolis and sold that practice; he has since relocated to Charlotte.
His education started with a summa cum laude degree in computational mathematics from DePauw University. He then attended Indiana University School of Medicine and completed a three-year family medicine residency. Dermatology training came at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, where he was chief resident in his third year, and dermatopathology training at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas under Dr. Clay Cockerell.
Earlier he was an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine, teaching residents and medical students from two hospital training programs, and he was the first Clinical Research Fellow in that school's Department of Dermatology. His research has covered skin cancer, psoriasis and allergic contact dermatitis. He later went back to Dayton as an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Wright State, and he also served as Associate Laboratory Director at the Dermatopathology Laboratory of Central States.
His clinical focus covers chronic and progressive skin disorders such as acne, rosacea, eczema and psoriasis, as well as pre-cancerous and cancerous growths. He has an interest in the surgical side of dermatology and is described as an expert in Botox, Dysport and Xeomin treatments. The practice says he was named one of Charlotte's top doctors for six years in a row. He has been invited faculty at the Cosmetic Surgery Forum, gave a lecture at the DASIL Annual Congress in Dubai in 2016, and sits on the board of directors of IDEOM.
